   The California quail also known as Callipepla Californiaca has brown flanks with white streaks and a curving crest\plume made of six feathers that droop forward. It is black in males and brown in females. Males have a dark brown cap with a brown back and a black face. They also have a light brown belly and a grey-blue chest. Females and immature birds are mainly grey-brown with a light covered belly. Its diet is 70 percent vegetarian because of all the leaves and flowers it eats. The California Quail has a habitat of the Coastal Sagebrush,Chaparral, Foothills, and the High Desert of California.
